Setting up your scoreboard

Create a scoreboard

Every game starts with a scoreboard. From the HockeyScore dashboard, create a new scoreboard and configure the basics:

• Team names — Set home and away. Keep them short for readability (e.g., "Eagles" not "Springfield Eagles U14").
• Team colors — Match jersey colors so viewers can follow at a glance.
• Team logos — Upload PNG logos with transparent backgrounds for the cleanest look.

Once your scoreboard is set up, you'll get an overlay URL to add to your streaming software.

The control panel

The control panel is where you run the game. Open it on your phone or laptop — it works in any browser.

Goals and assists

• Tap Goal on the home or away side to add a goal
• Record the scorer and up to two assists if you're tracking player stats
• Use Undo immediately if you make a mistake

Penalties

• Tap Add Penalty to start tracking a penalty
• Set the duration (2 min, 4 min, 5 min, 10 min) and type
• Active penalties display on the overlay with a countdown timer
• Penalties expire automatically when their time runs out

Shots

• Track shots on goal for each team with simple +/- controls
• Shot counts display on the overlay alongside the score

Game clock

• Start/Stop the clock with a single tap
• The clock counts down from the period length you've configured
• Clock state syncs instantly to the overlay

Periods

• Advance through periods as the game progresses: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, OT, SO
• The overlay updates the period indicator automatically
• Use intermission mode between periods
