Scoreboard troubleshooting

Scoreboard not showing

Check the browser source layer order. The overlay must be above your camera/video source in OBS, Streamlabs, or PRISM. If it's behind the video, it won't be visible.

Verify the overlay URL. Open it in a regular browser tab. You should see the scoreboard on a transparent background. If you see a login page or blank screen, you have the wrong URL.

Check the browser source size. Set Width/Height to match your canvas (1920x1080 or 1280x720). A mismatch can push the overlay off-screen.

Use Fit to Screen. In OBS, right-click the source → Transform → Fit to screen. This ensures the overlay isn't accidentally scaled or positioned off-canvas.

Scoreboard not updating

Refresh the browser source. Right-click the overlay source in your streaming software and choose Refresh. This re-establishes the connection.

Check your internet connection. The overlay needs a stable connection to receive real-time updates. If your connection dropped, the overlay will stop receiving changes until it reconnects.

Confirm you're controlling the right scoreboard. If you have multiple scoreboards, make sure your control panel is connected to the same one loaded in your streaming software.

Check for stream delay. Viewers (and your own stream preview) can be 5-30 seconds behind the control panel. This is normal platform delay, not a HockeyScore issue.

Scoreboard looks wrong

Teams swapped — Open scoreboard settings and use Swap to fix home/away sides, or edit the team names directly.

Hard to read — Switch to a darker theme with higher contrast. Hockey streams benefit from dark backgrounds since they contrast well against bright ice.

Cropped or cut off — Reset the overlay position in your streaming software. In OBS: right-click → Transform → Reset Transform, then Fit to screen.

Too big or too small — Adjust the browser source dimensions to match your canvas exactly. Don't resize by dragging corners — set the exact pixel values.

Mid-game quick fix

If something breaks during a game:

  1. Keep streaming — Don't restart your stream or streaming software.
  2. Refresh the browser source — This fixes most update issues.
  3. If refresh doesn't work, remove and re-add the browser source with a fresh copy of the overlay URL.
